- Intro
-
This is the help guide for Lunar Online and, like the game, will be updated on occasion. Questions, comments, and suggestions are all welcome at the forum. As a developer, I want to hear from you. If you find any bugs or exploits, you can send it to kckkryptonite (in-game name).
- Levels and Ranks
-
Leveling up grants you 3 stat points, gaining a rank grants you an additional 2. Levels and ranks go hand in hand, that is, ranks are really just flavor text for level increments of 5. They also serve as indicators of what class of parts and equipment you can use. For example, at rank "Private", you can equip D-ranked items. As you rank up, more things become available:
Corporal (Level 10): C Rank
Master Sergeant (Level 20): B Rank
1st Lieutenant (Level 30): A Rank
Major (Level 40): S Rank
In addition, you will gain extra mining bots at certain ranks.
- Pilot Stats
-
Stat points are accumulated through leveling, you can use them to upgrade your pilot's attributes. To try to keep in nature with the theme of "lessening the advantage gap between levels", these attributes give a slight, but noticeable advantage in and out of battle:
Dexterity: Increases exploration and mining success
Tactics: Increases overall physical attacks
Reflexes: Increases evasion/dodge
Melee/Ranged/Explosives: Increases accuracy when using a weapon of the respective skill
- Mech Stats
-
- Physical Damage: Normal weapon damage which is reduced first by shields, then armor.
- Armor: Reduces damage by percentage. To give you a rough estimate, 50 armor will decrease damage by about 25% and 100 armor will decrease damage by about 40%. Armor will break during battle (see "Battles").
- Shields: Reduces damage statically based on the shield value.
- Accuracy: Determined mainly by weapon accuracy. Pilot's weapon proficiency stat and mech Scan give a slight bonus.
- Evasion: Determined mainly by mech dodge rating. Pilot's Reflex stat give a slight bonus.
- Move speed: Determines first hit and increases the chances of escaping NPC battles.
- Attack speed: Determines first hit and increases crit chance.
- Critical chance: This is a combination of mech movespeed/10 and weapon speed/4. Determines chance for critical hits.
- Endurance (END)
-
Endurance dictates the amount of actions you can perform. When endurance runs out, you can do no more. It is recovered hourly by 1. Things you can spend endurance on:
- NPC battles
- Player battles
- Repairing
- Exploring
- Upgrading
- Battles
-
- There are two types of battles, NPC battles and player battles. You gain experience and credits from both, but slightly more from PvP.
- After 25 rounds a tie will occur resulting in no rewards.
The Battle Screen
When you enter the battle screen, a list of available attacks and skills/abilities will be shown. Click "Use" to use that weapon or skill to progress the battle into the next round. The abilities and weapon attacks available are dependent on your Mechanaught's equipment. So don't go into battle with nothing or your only attack will be "Fist"!
Armor
For every new battle, armor will always start at your Mechanaught's max value, but will break/decrease during the course of battle. Your mech will accumulate 1 to 2 points in armor loss for every hit that it takes.
Player Battles
To initiate a player battle, someone must first issue a challenge. If the other party agrees, the battle will take place and both players will lose one endurance. If the opponent refuses, or after 2 minutes has elapsed, the challenge is withdrawn.
A round will not complete until both players have taken an action. On the battle page, you simply choose your action and wait for the other player, the page should reload automatically. A player who has not taken an action, has 2 minutes to do so before he or she forfeits the battle.
- Damage
-
In battle, there are five different types of damage.
Physical Damage: Normal damage dealt by weapons, reduced by both armor and shields
Armor-Piercing Damage: (Burn, Debilitate) Damage reduced only by shields
Shield-Piercing Damage: (Acid, Shock) Damage reduced by only by armor
Explosive Damage: Damage reduced only by weapon and move speed. Explosive weapons always deal an extra 30% of this damage type
Direct Damage: Unblockable damage
- Skills & Abilities
-
Some equipment come with an ability or skill that can be used in battle. The player with the higher movespeed will have the effects executed first (not always a good thing). Abilities and skills always preempt normal attacks and finish when the attack phase is over. Skills are used alone and share cooldown with the respective weapon while abilities may be used with a weapon attack and have their own cooldown. Skills/abilities may...
